In light of President Bush’s disgraceful presser today, Keith Olbermann decided to make a Special Comment on tonight’s Countdown and wow, did he make the most of it. Olbermann blasts the president for his cowardly and un-American behavior of pimping General Petraeus as a political hack and hiding behind him to deflect criticism.
Don Rumsfeld said that you go to war with the army you have --not the army you might want. Bush, losing his war against an enemy he didn't want simply re-named it. As a National Intelligence Estimate revealed that terrorism had gotten worse since 911, Bush renames an insurgency (against which it was losing) "al Qaeda in Iraq" against which he hopes to win. Re-naming is easier than winning. The GOP rationale goes like this: if the GOP can change the terminology, a war lost on the ground might yet be won in the focus group. It's the GOP way.

And yet, a mere two months ago, president Peres addressed “a memorial ceremony for Zeev Jabotinsky, the revered founder of Betar and Revisionist movement—the forerunner of the Likud party,” according to IsraCast. “At the service on Jerusalem’s Mount Herzl, President Peres spoke of how even David Ben-Gurion had exaggerated the rift between the Revisionists on the Right and Mapai on the Left when it came to the Greater Land of Israel.” In short, there is little difference between the Jabotinskyites and Mapai in Israel—both are fanatically in favor of “Greater Israel,” that is to say the murder and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians.

The newly released Osama Bin Laden video is a an iron clad forgery, and not even a good one at that. All references to current events made by the figure said to be Bin Laden occur at a point in the video where the picture freezes and only audio is present. Bin Laden also presents a pre recorded martyrdom video of one of the alleged 9/11 hijackers, Waleed al Shehri, who was reported by the BBC as still alive and well in Saudi Arabia.
“We’re kicking ass in Iraq” was the reported statement by President Bush during his visit to Australia. Whether or not he said it, this is the message the controlled press have instilled in the hearts and minds of the population in the USA and in the handful of sycophantic nations which supported this outrageous and illegal act of butchery.
It hardly comes as a surprise… Osama plans to release “a new video recording … on or before next week’s sixth anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the United States,” reports the Voice of America, the propaganda unit established by the Office of War Information. “No photos or video of Bin Laden have been seen since late 2004, and the last audio message attributed to the fugitive terrorist leader was heard more than a year ago.” Of course, this makes perfect sense, as Osama died in late 2001, and as for the audio messages, these are routinely dismissed as fakes, although this is rarely mentioned by the corporate media.
It’s a crazy theory, but one that holds water in the up-is-down era of Bushzarro. 
Someone has been betting on a stock market crash at the end of September. Now a reader alerts us to an aspect of the current flap over the transport of nukes over America that coupled with such speculation is omminiously remiscent of the run up to 9/11.
Keith Olbermann’s Special Comment tonight is without a doubt, one of his hardest hitting and most emotional to date. Keith absolutely lays waste to President Bush’s lies and rhetoric about the surge. He contrasts his callous disregard for the truth and the troops between his six hour photo op in Iraq and the interview with Draper released this weekend.
Once again, we are expected to believe a handful of patsies—excuse me, “terrorists”—were capable of taking out a U.S. military base, this time the Ramstein air base in Germany, but thanks to the diligent work of Germany’s “special police officers,” these America-hating miscreants were apprehended before they attacked. In addition to Ramstein, reports the New York Times, these would-be terrorists plotted “massive attacks” against the Frankfurt international airport and “several sites frequented by Americans, including discos [and] bars…. German and American officials said that such indicators made them suspect (sic) connections to Al Qaeda.”
Dick Cheney has ordered top Neo-Con media outlets, including Fox News and the Wall Street Journal, to unleash a PR blitz to sell a war with Iran from today, according to Barnett Rubin, the highly respected Afghanistan expert at New York University.  |
